The Fox Cities Ice Dogs traveled well over the weekend earning a 7-1 victory in Mosinee. The game was the first regular season from either team.

The Ice Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals by Dominick White and Mike Jacobson. The visitor’s outshot the home team 10-5 in the first period, but the tables turned in the second period as Mosinee earned a 14-5 shot advantage.

Brian Bednarczyk cut the lead in half seven minutes into the period, but the comeback was thwarted late in the second period as Jeff Coopman and Jacobson scored to put Fox Cities up 4-1. Three third-period goals by Fox Cities, including two on the power play, iced the game.  In exhibition action, Eagle River’s Brad Adamovich scored with less than four minutes on the clock to bring the Falcons within one, but Fond du Lac held on for a 5-4 win in in Eagle River. GLHL action hits full speed next weekend as there will be five games featuring seven teams, including the first games of the season for Portage Lake and De Pere.
